To prove the accuracy of our Backpack RTK solution, Emesent conducted a scan along a 950m stretch of road in Brisbane, Australia.

The scan, using Emesent’s Backpack RTK with Emlid RS3, consisted of 2 passes of the surveyed area, undertaken at night to minimize the appearance of traffic (and thus reduce the need for point cloud cleaning).

The RTK solution used a Local Emlid RS2 base on a known position in order to gain best accuracy. Using Emesent Aura, the data was processed, filtered, reprojected and Geoid applied to local CRS GDA2020 MGA zone 56, with Geoid height referencing Australian Height Datum (AHD).

Data accuracy was verified by independent surveyor Orion Spatial Solutions in their 2024 accuracy report, available for download here.
