Hovermap is not only for drone use, its flexible design allows it to be used for walking, vehicle or backpack-mounted scans.

Hovermap’s quick-release mechanism makes it easy to switch from a drone flight to a walking scan, enabling the collection of critical data both in the air and on the ground, with the ability to automatically merge the results. Weighing only 1.8kg (4 lb), it is easily portable and compatible with smaller drones such as the DJI M210.

AUTONOMOUS RAPID SCANNING
ADAPTABLE TO ANY ENVIRONMENT
Hovermap acts as a virtual safety bubble around the drone to prevent collisions. LiDAR data is processed onboard in real-time to produce a local 3D map of the surroundings.
Obstacles such as telecom towers, fences, trees, poles, wires and people can all be detected and avoided.
Hovermap uses Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithms enabling
mobile mapping and autonomous drone flight even when GPS is unavailable. Using Emesent’s proprietary calibration and drone autonomy algorithms, it is built on CSIRO’s Wildcat SLAM Solution.

Drones usually rely on GPS for localization, navigation and flight control. Hovermap uses LiDAR data and advanced algorithms onboard in real-time to provide reliable and accurate localization and navigation without the need for GPS.
This allows drones to fly autonomously in GPS-denied environments, enabling a host of new applications such as flying and mapping in underground mines, inside warehouses or inspecting underneath bridges.
Hovermap has been designed to allow users to switch easily from a drone to a walking scan enabling the collection of critical data in challenging areas.
THE HOVERMAP™ PAYLOAD
Hovermap is lightweight, and yet robust enough to withstand the demands of environments such as underground mines. Made from a machined aircraft-grade aluminum frame combined with carbon fiber composite paneling, the Hovermap payload is light yet strong enough to support its rotating LiDAR while remaining stable in flight. Switching between drone to walking scans can be done with the click of a button using Hovermap’s quick-release mechanism.
